5 Plus for Air Conditioning & Refrigeration

What is 5 Plus?

5 Plus prevents the random mixing of the hot and cold gases during a refrigeration system or air conditioning compressor's shutdown period, so that when the compressor restarts, considerably less energy is required to return the gases to normal operating conditions.

Under normal operating conditions in a refrigeration system or air conditioner, when a compressor cuts out, the refrigerant gas within the system is not controlled sufficiently and as a consequence the hot & cold gas temperatures mix and become random. When the refrigeration system or air conditioner compressor restarts, a massive amount of energy is required to return the gas to normal operating conditions.

5 Plus Technology is certified by the
Electrical & Electronics Institute and is accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service and Bureau Veritas
for Quality Management

5 Plus is made up of two components:
Check/Bypass Valve

The 5 Plus Check/Bypass Valve is installed within the refrigeration circuit between the Compressor and Condenser. The purpose of the check valve is to maintain the high head pressure in the high side of the circuit when the system’s  compressor  shuts off. By maintaining the high pressure, the operating time of the compressor when it restarts is reduced dramatically. (typically from 4-6 minutes down to approx 20 seconds)

Pressure Valve

The 5 Plus Pressure Valve is installed within the refrigeration circuit between the Condenser and the Evaporator as close as possible to the metering device. The purpose of the pressure valve is to maintain the head pressure in the high side of the circuit preventing hot refrigerant from mixing with cool refrigerant in the Evaporator coil. This ensures that the Evaporator coil is cool when the compressor is off and remains cool for the next compressor re-start.

Principles of 5 Plus

When a refrigeration system or air conditioner's compressor operates in a steady stage, the cold refrigerant (which is in gas form) is sucked by the compressor and discharged into the check and bypass valve.

The high pressure coming out of a refrigeration system or air conditioner's compressor is transferred through the pressure sensing tube (size 0.08 inches in diameter) in order to activate and open the pressure valve. The difference in size between the bypass line and our bypass valve creates a vaccum in the line and makes it impossible for the refrigerant to enter back through the bypass line.

Once the refrigerant has passes through the check valve, it flows to the condenser coil and passes through the pressure vale to the capillary tube or expansion valve as it would in any conventional air conditioning circuit.

Advantages of 5 Plus

  1. No starting load

  2. Maintains head pressure difference between the high side & low side even in compressor CUT-OFF

  3. Uses much less time to reach steady stage

  4. The evaporate coil always cooled even in the compressor CUT-OFF

  5. Increases cooling and heating capacity
